What if you could magically fast forward into your ideal life for a moment?
Imagine waking up each morning excited to get started, to see what will unfold, to know you are living and working and loving and moving as the person you know you were meant to be.
You feel lighter, freer, and hopeful.
Your life and work have meaning-in-the-moment and you are fulfilled by accomplishing the things that matter to you, and are aligned with your deepest values.
The opinions of others would fade away the more you stand in your truth.
Each day would feel like a blessing instead of a burden.
Your future self would look at you and smile knowingly and, I suspect, would say something like,
“What took you so long? I’ve been waiting for you and we have lots to do. Let’s go make some noise.”
What would that be worth to you – to wake up in a life you have deliberately and consciously designed? One that feels so right it takes your breath away? A life and work that sings to your heart and soul – that honors who you are deep inside your shell?
Only you know what that life looks like.
Maybe it would mean a move across country. Or a different profession. Or the shedding of toxic relationships in order to welcome in your muse.
Deep down inside, that still, small voice has been asking for that life for a very long time. It wants you to love your work again. It wants you to love your life again.
If you don’t do something about it, you could keep working in a straightjacket, losing a little bit of yourself each day.
You could keep trying to convince yourself that pushing elephants uphill is easy or that your enormous workload doesn’t feel like quicksand.
You know if you don’t do something different, you could keep hurling yourself at roadblocks hoping somehow it will all get better with time.
You can stay stuck and torn and consumed in something that gets harder and harder every year.
You can watch your true self suffocate and be stifled a little more each day.
Or you can say, “enough.”
All you need is to take one tiny step. A one-degree turn. A pivot. It doesn’t have to be something drastic, just something different and in the direction of your dreams.
Take ten minutes right now just for you. Pick up the phone, answer an ad, write an email – reach out to someone and start the ball rolling. Your life was not meant to simply be endured. We need you out here, doing your gift, because you standing in your light inspires others and ripples through the ages.
You already have everything you need to change your situation, you just have to say, “Yes!”
